RD Bansal, founder of RDB & Co. took up the reins of Grace cinema in 1953. In 1958, he took on the additional responsibility of Lotus cinema as well. Poor footfall forced the owners to shut down the single screen.

Apart from screening of movies at the Lotus cinema, Bansal ran the popular ‘Lotus Amateur Club’ on its premises. This club gave a platform to youngsters to showcase their talent.
