An alumnus of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Sankhajit Biswas (screen name ‘Sankha’) has studied editing at his alma mater between 2002 and 2005. What makes his association with SRFTI unique is his return to his department as a professor of editing. Passion for movies runs in his family. His grandfather and uncle used to own a single screen theatre in Krishnanagore and every vacation of his was spent watching his favourites there.Besides being a teacher, Sankha wears two other hats.     • Dui Dhuranir Golpo / In-between Days won the Best Documentary Award at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2014.
    • Longra received the award for Best Cinematography at Kerala’s International Short & Documentary Film Festival in 2019.
    • Hridoy Bosot / A Home for My Heart received the jury’s Special Mention at Kerala’s Signs Film Festival in 2022.
    • Sankha is himself a three-time winner of Manipur State Award for Best Editing for the films, Phum Shang, Pabung Syam and Iron Women of Manipur.
Did You Know?

In 2010, Sankha was selected to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus (Berlin Film Festival). “I learned a lot not only from the mentors, but also from my peer group. That inspired me to start making my own film. In the same year, I started shooting Dui Dhuranir Golpo. Finally, it was completed after two years,” he said.
